About Ontario Practice Tests

Ontario Practice Tests is a free website that helps people prepare for Ontario driving licence tests and the Canadian citizenship test, in 11 languages.

Why we made this site

Many newcomers study for the G1, a truck or bus licence, or the citizenship test in a language that is not their first language. Good practice tests often cost money or need an account. We wanted one place where anyone can practise for free, in their own language, on any phone.

How the questions are made

• Driving questions are based on the official Ontario handbooks: the Official MTO Driver's Handbook, the Official Truck Handbook, the Official Bus Handbook, the Official Motorcycle Handbook and the Official Air Brake Handbook.
• Citizenship questions are based on Discover Canada, the official study guide from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
• Each new question is checked against the official source by a second reviewer. Facts that change, such as office holders and fees, are checked again when we update the site.
• Every question has a short explanation, so you learn the rule and not only the answer.

Independent and free

We are not part of the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), DriveTest or IRCC. The real tests are run by them, and their websites are always the final word. The site is free because of a few advertisements. We do not ask for your name, email or account.
